My Chemical Romance 'Danger Days' Album Cover with Spider Symbol

Welcome to the, ahem, ‘Tok parade. Emo veterans My Chemical Romance have bitten the bullet and joined TikTok with an official account, which already has more than 425,000 followers a couple of days after it went live.

This should come as no surprise. TikTok’s announcement of the official profile came with some stats to show the popularity of the band’s music on its app even before they joined.

Their most popular track on TikTok is ‘Teenagers’ from their 2006 album ‘The Black Parade’, with more than 1.4bn views of videos featuring it. That’s a long way ahead of the still-decent 414m views for their second biggest track ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’.

The band are currently on a global tour, which has provided footage for their first few posts on TikTok. The app has also launched an in-app hub to boost their profile, with label partnerships director Katrina Kernaghan professing her own stan credentials in the announcement.

“Their music has always meant so much to me, and it’s been amazing to watch fans celebrate those songs on TikTok for many years,” she said. “Discovering the band for the first time, sharing memories, expressing themselves through the music, and introducing these incredible songs to a whole new generation.”
