Have you heard of ‘Drums That Knock’? Even if not, you may well have heard sounds from this popular samples library – they’ve been used in big tracks by the likes of Bad Bunny, Charli XCX, Karol G and the Chainsmokers.
The man behind the series is American producer Nicholas Piantedosi, who goes by the professional name of Decap. 20m downloads of his work later, he’s now partnering with Splice on a new venture.
It’s a ‘samples label’ that will be releasing sounds exclusively for Splice, with plans to launch new packs regularly, and to feature emerging producers and sample-makers.
“Drums That Knock used to drop maybe once a year. Now, I can create or curate more packs, more genres, and sounds I’ve never tried,” he said. “I’m moving into more of a leadership role, transitioning from working alone to collaborating with like-minded sound designers who fit my vision.”
The news broke on a busy day for Splice, with the company also launching four new ‘Originals’ libraries from Spitfire Audio, the company it acquired last year.
