Less than a month after announcing that it had closed its first institutional funding round—led by Kobalt founder and chairman Willard Ahdritz’s Ahdritz Capital—Indian music distribution, publishing and marketing company Madverse Music Group has unveiled v2.0 of the platform, which “is designed to give independent artists and labels everything they need to release, manage, promote, and monetise their music from one integrated destination.”

The revamp brings upgraded versions of Madverse’s two main subscription plans—the Creator, for “artists who are just starting out”, priced at Rs299 per month (and Rs99 for the first month); and the Professional, which is for professional solo artists and labels managing multiple acts and is tagged at Rs3,999 per year. Among the major changes is that instead of 85% and 95% respectively, subscribers of both plans retain 100% of their royalties.

For those on the Professional plan, new additional features include “release protection” through which songs remain live even if an artist or label forgets to renew their subscription, and live chat support. “Our biggest learning has been around the kind of support artists need,” Madverse founder and CEO Rohan Jain told Music Ally.

“At a certain stage in their career, they need instant support and someone to give them more context, as the distribution game is highly nuanced. Other distributors are moving towards AI chat bots, which may work in western markets, but emerging markets like India are still in dire need of human support because of [the overall] lack of music business education.”

The optional add-ons include music video distribution, which was earlier priced separately for each individual release and is now available at an annual rate for an unlimited number of uploads. “DSPs like Spotify and Apple Music are pushing music videos as a core product now for better fan engagement,” said Jain. “[So we] felt artists should have unlimited access.”
