Hybe’s ambitions for expansion well beyond its home country of South Korea continue. The company’s Latin American subsidiary is launching an artist incubator in the Colombian city of Medellín, in partnership with its Youth Secretariat.
Variety broke the news, reporting that auditions and bootcamps will be part of the initiative – to which Colombian star J Balvin has also donated a studio.
More than 3,000 artists had already registered to take part, with the plan being to choose 64 of them to work on 20 original songs.
“The talent found within our youth can reach real heights and real opportunities,” said the mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, in a statement.
It’s the latest such initiative in the city, following Spotify’s four-week Casa Spotify Medallo program in 2022. Music Ally and Relatable’s MUdaL project also held a roadshow there that year.
